Serving at Dorothy Day
On the first Friday of every odd month we will be cooking and serving the meal at the Dorothy Day soup kitchen. Dorothy Day Hospitality House serves 80-120 hot meals each afternoon and also offers bag lunches for guests to take with them. Everyone who comes to the door is welcomed as a guest, with no questions asked. Starting at 1 p.m, we prepare for the meal: heat food, set tables, fill bread baskets, make coffee and drinks, plate salads and desserts, etc. The doors open at 3:15 p.m. and we serve until 4:45 p.m. After serving is done we clean up and are finished by 5:30 p.m. Adults and high school students are needed to help prepare and serve the meal. Remaining dates for 2011 are: July 1, September 2, November 4. If you’d like to put your faith to work by helping out or have questions, contact Father Luke.
We have
received so far this year over $400 in rebates from those of you who have signed up for Viridian. The
more people we have the more money comes back to the church EVERY month.
